- About ASTARTE MPEG Exporter™ 1.0.3
-
- ASTARTE MPEG Exporter™ (AME) is an export component for QuickTime 2.5
- which exports QuickTime movies as MPEG QuickTime movies. It can be used
- from within any application which supports QuickTime export components
- (e.g. MoviePlayer).
-
- IMPORTANT NOTE:
- ASTARTE MPEG Exporter is distributed as Shareware. Although commercial
- distribution is restricted, you may freely give it to your friends. If you
- continue using it, please pay the $20 fee. Use the enclosed Register program
- to create a customized registration form, which you can mail or e-mail to
- Kagi Shareware (whose address is given on the form).
-
- ASTARTE MPEG Exporter registrations are handled by Kagi, a payment
- processing service. To register, use the enclosed “Register” application to
- create a customized form, which you then send to Kagi, whose address is
- given on the form. The “How to Register” document gives detailed
- step-by-step instructions.
-
- Alternatively, you can register via credit card using the Kagi Online Order
- Processing service. Their web site is <http://order.kagi.com/?1UM>.
-
-
- Changes since version 1.0:
-
- - Error -32767 does not occur any more if MP Library is not installed.
- - 30 fps option works
-
- System requirements:
- - Apple PowerMacintosh (sorry no 68k machines)
- - System 7.5 or later
- - QuickTime 2.5 or later
- - Thread Manager
- - The application must have at least 3 MB of free RAM for AME to function
-
- – Playback requires the Apple QuickTime™ MPEG Extension or MPEG decoding
- hardware.
- (You can obtain the QuickTime playback software from quicktime.apple.com)
-
-
- Installation:
- Just drag ASTARTE MPEG Exporter onto your System Folder. It will be copied
- to the Extensions folder. Restart your computer; you should see the AME icon
- on the screen during startup.
-
- Usage:
- - Open MoviePlayer
- - Open any QuickTime movie with at least one video track.
- - Select "Export…" from the "File" menu
- - Select "Movie to MPEG" from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the dialog box,
- specify a name for the new file and click OK.
- - Choose either 30 fps (for NTSC) or 25 fps (for PAL) in the Options dialog that appears.
- - Go to sleep or go do something else (encoding takes a while.)
-
- Now you have a QuickTime movie on your hard disk which contains MPEG data.
- You can play this back with any QuickTime-aware application. Don't forget to make
- this movie "Make Movie Self Contained" (within "MoviePlayer") if you want to play
- it back on a non-Apple computer.
-
- Limitations:
- - only 30 fps (for NTSC) and 25 fps (for PAL) are supported
- - 384 pixels maximum width; 288 pixels maximum height. Larger movies are
- scaled to that size.
- - width and height will be changed to a multiple of 16 pixels, if they are not already.
- - the data rate is always 176400 bytes/s (this corresponds to single-speed
- CD-ROM playback)
- - MIDI tracks will be ignored.
-
- Technical Support:
- Support for ASTARTE MPEG Exporter is available by e-mail at:
- mpeg2@astarte.de or mpeg2@kagi.com.
